The Girls - Lori Lansens 22
This a novel about the story of conjoined twins. Although it is fiction it is an interesting look at how these girls live their day to day lives from young girls growing up in the country to living on their own in the city. This story is about their profound love for one another and they tell their story as they have decided to write their autobiography. This book was good and although I found the girls to be inspiring, it is a bit on the depressing side.
Buy The Girls

After our 530 Lake Shore Drive Condo Assn. book club read this book, I actually saw a man, presumably the father, of conjoined twin girls of about 6 years of age, at the Chicago Cultural Center. I felt compassion, of course; it was obvious that one of the girls was stronger than the other (the man had a stroller as well, so the girls could rest as needed). But I also wanted to reach out to the man and tell him how wonderful it was that he was exposing these girls to the city, culture, etc. and not hiding them like I thought was the case in “The Girls”.
