I could not put this book down. This is a true story about a woman, who is a mother of two and a hairdresser that realizes she want and needs more in her life. She goes to Kabul to volunteer and feels she has “come home.” She comes up with the idea to open a Beauty School to help the women of Afghanistan change their lives. This is no easy feat and with lots of help she realizes this dream. On the way she meets wonderful women and gets married to an Afghan man. Her journey is fascinating and getting a glimpse into the daily life of an American dealing with the cultural differences, the customs, and living in a war torn community makes for interesting reading.
