The story takes place in 1941 England during the time of the war. All the farmhands have been called to fight in the war so England has put into place its new Land Army Plan, which brings out the women and puts them in the fields to help the farmers take care of their farms. This story brings together the Lawrence family and 3 land girls who come to take on the many tasks of farming. These 3 girls know nothing about farming and nothing about each other but watching them grow over the course of the story is really interesting. This book is definitely not a page turner but it was interesting and a good story.
