Another great book from one of my favorite authors. Although this book is centered on a suburban mom being murdered it is a light and easy read. The main character makes it her mission to find out who murdered this seemingly “perfect mom”. She on the other hand has twins and an older child and maybe because her life as mom is so easy to relate to, it is all very funny.

I loved this book. This is a story about a young girl and her foster parents during the war in Germany, who help a Jewish man by hiding him in their basement. During a time of poverty, fear and war, we watch their relationships grow and develop. This is also the story of a girl who discovers books and learns to read. These books are stolen from Nazi book burnings and wherever else they may be found. Although the struggles and reality of this story are hard to imagine and read about, I just couldn’t get enough of these people.

Another good one by this author. Once you get into it you can’t put it down. The story centers on a 14 year old girl Trixie Stone and the strong bond she has with her father. Then with a single act of violence her world is turned upside down and so is her family as she knows it. (Don’t be turned off by the comics throughout – I just skipped them all together)

A little about me and my site. I was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago. I spent some time at the University of Madison in Wisconsin and then graduated from Northeastern University in Chicago with a degree in Human Resources. I have lived in Florida, Milwaukee and currently I live in St. Louis Mo.( for almost 20 years). I worked for Jenny Craig for 13 years and it was a wonderful experience where I met a lot of great people and got to travel around the country for 6 of those years. s. I have been married for 13 years and have two wonderful children. I love to read and find there is just never enough time to get to all the great books out there. About 5 years ago I got the idea that I should start keeping track of all the great books I was reading and I started giving them a small review and then at the end of the year I would send out the list to all my friends. Over the years I have gotten great feedback about my list and nothing makes me happier then when someone chooses to read a book I have recommended and has enjoyed it, or has passed the list on to their friends or even their own book clubs. So now you won’t have to wait all year to see what I have been reading. My friends also know that I am ALWAYS looking for good books and asking them what they are currently reading. I hope this site will help my reading friends find some good books to read but to also share what they have enjoyed with me.
